ROLE SUMMARY
We are recruiting a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon or Specialist to join our Orthopaedics and Trauma department. The candidate will bring expertise in complex musculoskeletal surgery, trauma management, and sub-specialty orthopaedic practice, operating within a well-equipped surgical environment. We welcome applications from internationally trained orthopaedic surgeons with a strong surgical record.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform a broad range of elective orthopaedic procedures including joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, fracture fixation, and soft tissue reconstruction.
- Manage complex orthopaedic trauma including polytrauma, peri-prosthetic fractures, and open injuries.
- Lead sub-specialty orthopaedic clinics and surgical programmes (joint arthroplasty, sports medicine, spine, foot & ankle, etc.).
- Participate in multidisciplinary trauma, oncology, and rehabilitation team meetings.
- Supervise, mentor, and train orthopaedic registrars, residents, and theatre staff.
- Lead clinical governance activities including surgical audit, complications review, and quality improvement.
- Participate in on-call orthopaedic and trauma surgical services.
- Collaborate with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and pain management teams in comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
- Contribute to clinical research, innovation in surgical techniques, and academic publishing.
- Drive departmental service development and strategic planning for orthopaedic services.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- MBBS or equivalent primary medical degree.
- Specialist qualification in Orthopaedic Surgery (e.g., FRCS (Orth), FWACS (Orthopaedics), or international equivalent).
- Minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience with a high-volume complex orthopaedic surgical caseload.
- Proficiency in arthroplasty, trauma surgery, and arthroscopic procedures.
- Valid specialist registration with a recognised surgical regulatory authority.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and academic involvement.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES
- Sub-specialty training in hip/knee arthroplasty, shoulder surgery, paediatric orthopaedics, spine, or trauma surgery.
- Experience with computer-assisted or robotic-assisted orthopaedic surgery.
- Involvement in orthopaedic research, publications, or society leadership.
