Department: Paediatrics & Child Health. Open to candidates in Nigeria and International Applicants

We are seeking a distinguished Consultant Paediatrician to join our Paediatrics and Child Health department, providing expert clinical care to infants, children, and adolescents across a broad range of medical conditions. The candidate will demonstrate leadership in clinical practice, education, and research within a high-acuity tertiary setting. We welcome applications from qualified international paediatricians.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expert paediatric clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management for general and complex paediatric presentations.
  • Lead inpatient ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and paediatric emergency assessments.
  • Collaborate with neonatology, paediatric surgery, paediatric cardiology, neurology, and allied health teams in multidisciplinary care.
  • Supervise, mentor, and educate paediatric trainees, residents, and nursing staff.
  • Lead departmental quality improvement, governance, and clinical audit activities.
  • Manage acute paediatric emergencies in collaboration with emergency and critical care teams.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based paediatric clinical guidelines and care pathways.
  • Participate in on-call paediatric services including acute admissions and neonatal cover.
  • Lead or contribute to paediatric research, clinical trials, and academic publishing.
  • Contribute to child safeguarding, child development, and community health programmes.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • MBBS or equivalent primary medical degree.
  • Postgraduate specialist qualification in Paediatrics (e.g., MRCPCH, FRACP Paediatrics, FAAP, or international equivalent).
  • Minimum of 15 years post-qualification clinical experience in a recognised paediatric or tertiary centre.
  • Broad general paediatric competence with optional sub-specialty interest.
  • Valid specialist registration with a recognised national or international medical regulatory authority.
  • Track record of clinical leadership and academic or educational contribution.

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Sub-specialty interest or training in paediatric cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, or infectious disease.
  • Experience in neonatal care or level III NICU management.
  • Academic involvement in paediatric research, publications, or national guideline development.
