Tendering & Estimation Engineer

  • Lagos
  • Engineering | Sales & Marketing
  • ₦DOE

We need someone who can take a project, understand it, work out what it actually costs, and put together a tender that wins the work without cutting corners.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Tendering & Estimation Engineer to join our team and take ownership of the tender process — from reading the drawings to submitting a bid we can stand behind. You’ll build Bills of Quantities, price up projects, and work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to make sure our numbers are both competitive and realistic.

Background in MEP, construction, or building services is a big plus, but what matters most is that you can look at a set of drawings and know how to turn them into an accurate cost.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Reading through tender documents, drawings and specs to understand what’s actually being asked for
  • Putting together cost estimates and quotations, and pulling together full tender submissions
  • Taking off quantities from architectural, structural, MEP and engineering drawings
  • Getting quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, then comparing them to find the best value
  • Pricing out materials, labour, equipment and subcontractor costs
  • Flagging risks, exclusions and assumptions before they become problems
  • Keeping tenders on track and hitting submission deadlines
  • Talking to engineers, project managers and suppliers throughout the process to keep things moving
  • Handling clarifications and client queries during the tender
  • Keeping our pricing records and tender database up to date
  • Helping out with negotiations after the tender’s been submitted
  • Staying on top of market pricing so our estimates stay realistic

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree or relevant qualification — Quantity Surveying, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
  • Hands-on experience preparing tenders, estimates and BOQs
  • Comfortable reading technical, architectural, structural and MEP drawings
  • Good with Excel and other estimating tools
  • Solid grasp of construction materials, labour costs and procurement
  • Sharp with numbers and good under pressure — tender deadlines don’t move
  • Someone who can work independently but also plug into a commercial team

Nice to Have

Experience in MEP contracting, building services, mechanical/electrical installations, infrastructure, or commercial and residential developments will help you hit the ground running.
